Cost analysis of Patents Bill 2013

Jamie made this Official Information request to Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment

The request was refused by Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment.

From: Jamie

Dear Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment,

During the research, writing, select committee, submission or debating stages of the Patents Bill 2013; was there any research or theoretical modelling done to evaluate the financial impact of banning software patents?

If so, can you please provide that research and/or modelling?

If not, how did the department come to the conclusion that "patent trolls" would affect innovation in the IT sector.

Yours faithfully,
Jamie Wilson
