Dear Mr Smith,

I acknowledge receipt of your email dated 31 July 2024, containing an OIA
request generally regarding employment practices in our Hostel, School
House. Before I move on this request I have a point for clarification.

Under the Official Information Act Guidelines I have the ability to
satisfy myself as to the eligibility of the requester, namely John Smith.
A quick internet search revealed that there are several people who
use both John Smith and the FYI.org website, therefore I cannot be certain
this meets the eligibility criteria.

I have included, for your knowledge, the guidelines from the OIA for
agencies.

'Any person is entitled to make a request under the OIA who is:

·             a New Zealand citizen;

·             a permanent resident of New Zealand;

·             a person who is in New Zealand;

·             a body corporate (ie, company or incorporated society) which
is incorporated in New Zealand; or

·             a body corporate which has a place of business in
New Zealand.

Agencies are entitled to satisfy themselves as to the requester’s
eligibility to make a request under the OIA'.

I would appreciate you providing evidence of your eligibility as outlined
in the above headings. Please note I will not be able to accept a return
email that simply states I am John Smith.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Regards
Richard Hall
