Kia Ora Nick

Thank you for your request for information under the Official Information
Act 1982.

Please find below your request as it is currently worded and our
clarification questions which are shown in green:

a) By category of previous visas (in particular, work and study visas)

Please can you confirm a timeframe for this information, e.g. the 2024
calendar year?

b) By number/percentage of visa renewals under a) not granted interim
visas after expiry of previous visa.

You can only be granted an interim visa if you currently hold a temporary
visa (see [1]I1.5(a)). However, in this part of your request you appear to
be asking how many applicants were declined an interim visa following the
expiry of their previous visa? In light of the fact that you need to hold
a temporary visa to be granted an interim visa can we please ask that you
just provide further clarification around what information you are seeking
in this part of your request? Are you potentially asking for the number of
applicants, who while holding an interim visa, then had their subsequent
visa declined?

c) Number of visas under a) renewed after granted interim visas

New Zealand visas are not renewed; a visa holder instead is granted a new
visa. Considering this can we please ask you to confirm if you are wanting
the number of applicants, who while holding an interim visa, then had a
subsequent visa approved?

d) Breakdown of interim visas issued under a), by issue date (more than 7
days before expiry of previous visa; under 3 days before expiry of
previous visa; on or after expiry of previous visa).

This is clear no further information needed (noting as per [2]I1.5(a),
that interim visas can not be granted after the expiry of a visa).

I would like to request the following breakdown of interim visas, if
available:

a) By category of previous visas (in particular, work and study visas)

b) By number/percentage of visa renewals under a) not granted interim
visas after expiry of previous visa.

c) Number of visas under a) renewed after granted interim visas

d) Breakdown of interim visas issued under a), by issue date (more than 7
days before expiry of previous visa; under 3 days before expiry of
previous visa; on or after expiry of previous visa).

Please note any clarification or amendment of a request is considered to
be a new request for the purpose of calculating the maximum statutory
timeframe for response (see section [15(1AA) of the Act).

Kia Ora Nick,

Please can you confirm a timeframe for this information, e.g. the 2024
calendar year?

b) By number/percentage of visa renewals under a) not granted interim
visas after expiry of previous visa.

Please provide this information by 24 May 2024.

If we do not receive your response by this time,  we will be closing your
request in accordance with Section 12(2) of the OIA which states that the
official information requested shall be specified with due particularity
in the request.

Please note any clarification or amendment of a request is considered to
be a new request for the purpose of calculating the maximum statutory
timeframe for response (see section [15(1AA) of the Act).
