On behalf of the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment I
acknowledge your email of 30 April 2024 requesting under the Official
Information Act 1982 (the Act), the following:

 

‘I understand that at this stage international students who completed
their Bachelor degrees in New Zealand can be granted a three-year Working
visa upon their graduation. Does this also apply to students who first
study towards a Diploma qualification (New Zealand) but later transfter to
study towards a Bachelor degree (New Zealand)? Provided those students
complete their tertiary education wholely in New Zealand, will they be
granted a three-year Working visa upon their Bachelor degree graduation?
Is there any possibilty that they will be granted a less than three-year
working visa because they started their tertiary education from a Diploma
programme?’

 

We will endeavour to respond to your request as soon as possible, and no
later than 28 May 2024, being 20 working days after the day your request
was received. If we are unable to respond to your request by then, we will

qualification studied in New Zealand.  Please refer to the table below:
