If you are seeking information about processing timeframes for a specific application, I must advise that the Department of Internal Affairs (the Department) receive a number of Citizenship data requests which become quickly outdated, as the data is constantly changing.

As noted on our website, once the Department has looked over the application, you will be contacted if any additional information is required.

If you have a citizenship application lodged, you can now check the progress on your application by going to our website: https://www.govt.nz/browse/passports-cit... and clicking on the link ‘Check the progress of your application’.

Please confirm by 26 April 2024 whether you wish for the Department to proceed with your request or whether you would like someone from the Department to contact you regarding your OIA request. If you would like someone to contact you, please provide a phone number and preferred time to [email address].
