Good morning Marie,
In order to process your request, would you please clarify the following:
* Question 2 - please confirm which year are you wanting information on
- 2022 or 2023?
* Question 3 - please confirm what time period you are referring to.
Also, are you referring to additional port control HSWA positions?
* Question 6 - can you provide a definition of what you mean by "working
groups" and similarly "independent reviews"?

Dear Ministerial Services,
For question 2 - 2023 unless you had started employing extra people for the HSWA port work by then. If you had started employing extra people please use 2022.
For question 3 - between 2017 and the year used for question 2. I don’t need anything with the HSWA port workers thank you.
Question 6 - working groups as a group of external consultants working together is probably the best way to classify it. Independent reviews I mean external people eg lawyers to review complaints, problems and the like. I guess as a broad description all external consultants contracted to assist MNZ in any way.
Hope I have explained that well enough.
Kind regards
Yours sincerely,
Marie

Dear Ministerial Services,
Thank you for your information. However, answer to question 3 is a bit random. I asked if there was an increase in employees between June 2017 and June 2023 to list the job titles of those. You have given a list of employee jobs from December 2023 and include your port worker HSWA increase, when I had not requested those as to not artificially inflate numbers as of course with the added responsibility you would have increased staff.
You increased from 150 workers in 2017 to 348 in June 2023 that is an increase of 198 employees! Well over doubling your employees. The question was what job titles were created for the increase, meaning for the 198 extra people employed. Please provide the information requested.
Yours sincerely,
Marie

Good morning Marie,
Thank you for your email, below. We apologise for the delay in responding to you.
In our letter to you dated 17 April 2024, we advised that as at 30 June 2017, Maritime NZ had 150 employees - this was incorrect. The correct figure is 215 employees as at 30 June 2017. As at 30 June 2023, Maritime NZ had 348 employees, as already advised. The additional 133 positions are in the attached spreadsheet.
Kind regards
