Ben made this Official Information request to Simeon Brown

This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for Ben to read a recent response and update the status.

From: Ben

Dear Hon Simeon Brown,

I note that today the Minister of Transport announced that the Auckland Regional Fuel Tax will end from 30 June 2024, with the intention of reducing fuel prices by an equivalent amount (said to be 11.5c per litre):
https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/prime-mini...

I request the following information and documents under the Official Information Act:

1. Whether any advice has been received about the extent to which fuel prices are expected to reduce as a result of this decision (ie, whether the reduction is passed on to consumers)? (And if so, copies of that advice)

2. Whether any advice has been received about the use of the Commerce Commission or MBIE's monitoring and/or existing enforcement powers to ensure that the reduction is passed on to consumers? (And if so, copies of that advice)

3. Whether any advice has been received about extending the monitoring or enforcement powers of the Commerce Commission or MBIE to ensure that the reduction is passed on to consumers, or for any other purpose? (And if so, copies of that advice)

I do not, however, request the names of officials and am happy for their names and contact details to be redacted, provided the position titles are listed.

Yours faithfully,

Ben
