Response

Please find the enclosed the information relating to the volume/number and
reports of bird hazard reports including near  Misses and strikes
experienced at New Plymouth airport between January 2020 and December
2023.

As regards your request for the wildlife management plan of the operator
of New Plymouth aerodrome, an initial search in our database indicates
that the CAA may not hold this information. However, to confirm this, I
will need to get in touch with our Aeronautical Services Unit. If CAA
holds the wildlife management plan of the New Plymouth Airport, we will
then need to consult with the Aerodrome prior to release of this
information as the document would be supplied by the aerodrome. Therefore,
to manage the internal liaison and consultation process, if any, I am
extending the due date of this element of your request to 29 February 2024
(an additional 17 working days).

I shall aim to let you know sometime next week if we hold this information
or not.

You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of
our decision to extend the timeframe for the second part of your request.
Information about how to make a complaint is available at
[1]www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or freephone 0800 802 602.
