Number of retail locations in Northland under the Smokefree Amendment Act

Rohan Lloyd made this Official Information request to Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet

Response to this request is long overdue. By law Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet should have responded by now (details and exceptions). The requester can complain to the Ombudsman.

From: Rohan Lloyd

Dear Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet,

Official information request: Number of retail locations in Northland under the Smokefree Amendment Act

I refer you to the Prime Minister's press conference today (29th November 2023) on the 100 day Plan. Mr Luxon repeatedly said that under the Smokefree Environments and Regulated Products (Smoked Tobacco) Amendment Act, there would be a single retailer of tobacco products in Northland.

Please supply the following information under the Official Information Act (OIA):

Any information you have about the number of retail locations in Northland. In particular, any documents that would prove or disprove the Prime Ministers claim.

If you need any more information from me please let me know as soon as possible.
I understand that a decision on a request for information under the [OIA/LGOIMA] should be
made within 20 working days of receiving that request.
If you do not normally deal with official information requests, or you need advice on dealing
with this request, guidance is available from the Ombudsman at https://www.ombudsman.parliament.nz

Ngā mihi

Rohan Lloyd
