Mandated and Terminated workers on unemployment benefit

Erika Whittome made this Official Information request to Ministry of Social Development

Response to this request is long overdue. By law Ministry of Social Development should have responded by now (details and exceptions). The requester can complain to the Ombudsman.

From: Erika Whittome

Dear Ministry of Social Development,
Many workers lost their jobs as a result of vaccination mandates in 2021 and 2022.

Would you kindly share the total number of people receiving an unemployment benefit as of today who were made unemployed as a result of vaccine mandates.

Would you also share the total number of people on a sickness benefit as of today for people who were made unemployed as a result of vaccine mandates.

Please share the total number of people on a sickness benefit as of today for people who suffered a medical misadventure or a vaccine injury.

Yours faithfully,

Erika Whittome

Dear OIA_Requests (MSD),

I note you decline due to substantial collation or research.
I believe you already collating all of this data in your decision support systems, for example in your data analytic system, data warehouse, data lake, data store or other reporting system at MSD.

Your reporting analysts on this system can easily run a report grouped by unique client ID and fetch records based on keyword searches such as “mandate”, “vaccine mandate”, “vaccination”, “vaccine injury” in the case notes.

Are you saying that MSD has no data and analytic support system or data warehouse/data lake system in order to utilize in order to answer this official information act requires?

Yours sincerely,

Erika Whittome

Thank you for your query. For the reasons set out in our previous correspondence with you, the Ministry is unable to provide you with the information requested without needing to manually review a substantial number of files.

If you are not satisfied with this response, you have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman. Information about how to make a complaint is available at http://www.ombudsman.parliament.nz/ or 0800 802 602.
