Fluoridation cost estimates for local councils directed to fluoridate (original and revisions)

J Bruning made this Official Information request to Ministry of Health

Response to this request is long overdue. By law Ministry of Health should have responded by now (details and exceptions). The requester can complain to the Ombudsman.

Dear Ministry of Health,

The Ministry of Health required Councils under s116G to give written comments on estimated financial costs of adding fluoride to drinking water, including any additional costs of ongoing management and monitoring.

Please supply information relating to financial information sent to the Ministry of Health from these councils:

Whangārei District Council
Western Bay of Plenty District Council
Waitaki District Council
Waipa District Council
Tauranga City Council
Tararua District Council
Rotorua Lakes Council
New Plymouth District Council
Nelson City Council
Kawerau District Council
Horowhenua District Council
Hastings District Council
Far North District
Auckland Council

[a] All responses to the original request prior to July 2022.
(as described in letters such as this one, sent to Rotorua Lakes District Council.
https://www.health.govt.nz/system/files/... )

and:

[b] Further responses concerning amendments to budgeted costs of fluoridation of water supplies (this includes revisions to any of the earlier information) that have been sent to the Ministry of Health, up to October 30, 2023.

Thank you

Yours faithfully,

J Bruning

Kia ora J Bruning,
Thank you for your email.
On 24 November 2023, you received a partial response from Manatū Hauora
(the Ministry of Health) in regard to the first part of your request
(H2023032680 refer).
You were further advised that Manatū Hauora had identified a number of
documents to be within scope of the second part of your request. However,
the period of time of available to respond to that part of your request
was extended under section 15A of the Act, as consultations were deemed
necessary to make a decision that a proper response to that part of your
request could not be made within the original time limit. You can expect a
response to the second part of your request on or before 22 December 2023.
