Who is the governing body of the New Zealand Law Society
Rochelle Butt made this Official Information request to Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet
The request was refused by Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.
From: Rochelle Butt
Dear Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet,
I have made OIA request to the New Zealand Law Society (NZLS), but note that they are not subject to the OIA. Given, the secretive nature of that Society and that I do not know who the (NZLS) act under, which is the information I require, I am asking executive council.
Please could you provide me with information as to the following:
1. Who is the NZSL accountable to ie who is the governing body?; and
2. What law enforcement authority does the NZLS have to hold lawyers accountable to New Zealand Law and to the Rules for Lawyers according to the Lawyers & Coveyancers Act?.
Yours faithfully,
Rochelle Butt
