On behalf of the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment I
acknowledge your email of 21 September 2023 requesting under the Official
Information Act 1982 (the Act), the following:

 

‘I would like to request the detailed data on visitor visa holders (for
tourism purpose) who have been refused entry to New Zealand either at one
of the New Zealand's Airport or at the port of entry/stop over,
categorized by their nationality along with reason of refusal.

 

Further I would like this Data to be separated out for every month
starting from September 2022

 

Further I would request for the data of top 5 nationalities who were
refused entry to New Zealand on their visitor visa from September 2022
with a corresponding percentage of successful entry permission to visitor
visa holders during the same time period.’

 

We will endeavour to respond to your request as soon as possible, and no
later than 19 October 2023, being 20 working days after the day your
request was received. If we are unable to respond to your request by then,
we will notify you of an extension of that timeframe.  If you have any
