I’m interested to understand how you calculate carbon emissions, and would
like to look closely at the numbers.

 

For the most recently published carbon emissions reporting period (of 12
months) please provide:

 

- The detailed base data from which the calculations were made - not
summarised, but raw data. If you need to remove details like company names
that’s fine.

 

- The worked up calculations (summarised)

 

- Details of the carbon reporting standards and methodology you have
followed.

 

- Details of any offsets you have applied, including full details of the
scheme, how the offsets are achieved, governance etc.

 

- In the time since you have claimed that Christchurch Airport is “climate
positive” or similar, the total emissions (all scopes included) at the
airport.

CIAL has recently received multiple requests for information via fyi.org.nz website. Many of these requests appear to be related and the volume significantly exceeds what CIAL would expect to receive in the ordinary course of its business.

Nonetheless, we have responded to your request within 20 working days (as per our statutory obligations).

As you may understand, it takes time to process each and every OIA request (in the order in which they arrive) and to speak to the relevant stakeholder(s) required to answer the request(s) accordingly. This has seen substantial resource diverted from where it would ordinarily be deployed.

Thank you for your follow up email. CIAL believes it has complied with its
statutory obligations when answering your Request under the OIA. In
relation to the first part of your Request, CIAL has directed you to the
detailed summary of its base carbon emissions data contained in the
following (publicly available) report prepared by Conversio: “Independent
GHG Footprint Report, Christchurch International Airport Limited, Basis of
Preparation , FY2021-22” as it is entitled to do under section 16(1)(e) of
the OIA. We note that, since our response to your Request was sent, CIAL’s
Independent GHG Inventory Report for the 2022-23 reporting year (also

Please note that I don't want the summary in the Conversio document. I've
