I refer to your official information request dated 15 July 2023 for homicides carried out by parolees.

We have transferred your request to the Department of Corrections. The information to which your request relates is not held by us but is believed to be held by the Department of Corrections.

Subject: Official Information request - Homicides carried out by parolees

Dear Ministry of Justice,

Please advise how many people released on parole went on to commit homicide within 10 years of being granted parole. Please provide these numbers from between the year 2000 until the date this OIA request was submitted.

Could you please also include information relating to the number of prior convictions each parolee had before going on to commit homicide while on parole?
