Michael Bryant made this Official Information request to Grant Robertson
This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for Michael Bryant to read recent responses and update the status.
From: Michael Bryant
Dear Grant Robertson,
I am writing to request information regarding the total dollar figures received by the government via taxable income and all other taxes enforced in New Zealand upon its citizens, residents, migrant workers, tourists and businesses for every year since the last election.
I wish to see how much of that money was paid to elected officials, along with the total number of elected government staff whose salary is paid by these taxes, along with the average salary amount for diffrent types of elected public servants.
Furthermore, for each of those years I wish to request the total amount that ended up unaccounted for.
Yours faithfully,
Mike Bryant

From: Bradley Martin [TSY]
Dear Michael
On 24 May 2023, you emailed the Minister of Finance requesting
information, under the Official Information Act (OIA). The Treasury is
contacting you on behalf of the Minister’s office in order to discuss the
scope of your request.
The last part of your request is broad in scope and is likely to be
refused under section 18(f) of the OIA as substantial manual collation
would be required to provide the information requested:
Furthermore, for each of those years I wish to request the total amount
that ended up unaccounted for.
As such, I would suggest you refine this part of your request, so we are
able to make the proper considerations on the information you are seeking.
Can you also advise what you are expecting when you state “elected
officials”.
I look forward to hearing from you regarding the refinement of your
request.
Ngâ mihi
