In the last trimester, what is the average hourly pay for a  Graduate
Tutor and what is it for a  graduate TA?

With Tutor and TA I here refer to students employed on a fixed term basis
to assist in teaching a specific course.

If the Schools have a fixed pay structure how much they pay e.g. based on
experience please include that information as well.

Good morning, Torven

 

I am responding on behalf of the University to your recent OIA request, in
which you have asked for information about average hourly pay rates for
Graduate Tutors and Teaching Assistants at Massey University.

 

At Massey University we define a Graduate Tutor as a Graduate Assistant.

 

I can confirm that the average hourly rate for a Graduate Assistant is
$21.20, and the average hourly rate for a Teaching Assistant is $37.22 (TA
are defined as casual positions). Please note the average hourly rate has
been calculated using total dollar value divided by total hours worked for
these positions in the last 3 months. 

 

Further, you will note within our Collective Employment Agreement – the
salary scale for Graduate Assistants on a per annum basis (see attached).
