Expected vs Actual Timeframe for National Security Check

Abraham made this Official Information request to Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment

This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for Abraham to read recent responses and update the status.

From: Abraham

Dear Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment,

I would like information on what the expected verse actual timeframe is for National Security Checks to be completed by a third party agency for the 2021 Residency Visa? I understand this may vary, but surely MBIE has an agreement with third parties on what the expected timeframe is for completion.

I would also like to know how many applicants requiring a National Security Check applied for this visa category?
Of those applying for a One Off 2021 Residency Visa and meeting the criteria of a National Security Check, how many have been completed so far to date?

Yours faithfully,
Abraham

to date?

13/11/22 Request

Kia ora Abraham,

We refer to your official information request received by the NZSIS on 23
November 2022.

The Official Information Act 1982 requires that we advise you of our
decision on your request no later than 20 working days after the day you
submitted your request. Unfortunately, it will not be possible to meet
that time limit and we are, therefore, writing to notify you of an
extension of the time to make our decision to 2 February 2023. This
extension is necessary because the consultations needed to make a decision
on your request are such that a proper response cannot reasonably be made
within the original time limit.

If you wish to discuss any aspect of your request with us, including this
decision, please feel free to contact [1][email address].

You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of
this decision. Information about how to make a complaint is available at
