Communication on Dosh app and MSD

Felix Lee made this Official Information request to Ministry of Social Development

The request was successful.

From: Felix Lee

Dear Ministry of Social Development,

In the NZHerald article https://www.nzherald.co.nz/business/nz-f...

It is mentioned "The pair are talking to government agencies and the Reserve Bank about the technology and its potential uses... two of the obvious ones are financial inclusion and hardship"

I would like to request any correspondents, memos, minutes, or other documents that relates to Dosh mobile wallet app, its founders Shane Marsh, James McEniery, and the company MCA Investments Limited and its staff.

Thank you for your help

Yours faithfully,

Felix

Tçnâ koe Felix Lee,

The Ministry are currently scoping your request for information. As part
of assessing your request it is noted that some correspondence that may
fall within the scope of your request is likely to contain Ministry
employee names and contact details.

We would need to consult relevant Ministry employees before deciding
whether we can release this information to you, and this will take
additional time and effort.

and/or who are not decision-makers, please advise us soon as possible and
we will treat your request as amended accordingly.  If the Ministry has
not heard from your before 17 November 2022, the Ministry will assume that
Ministry employee names and contact details are not part of your request
for information.

In any event, the Ministry will make and communicate to you a decision on

Tçnâ koe Felix Lee,

On 1 November 2022, you emailed the Ministry of Social Development (the
Ministry) requesting, under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act),
the following
information:

o I would like to request any correspondents, memos, minutes, or other
documents that relates to Dosh mobile wallet app, its founders Shane
Marsh, James McEniery, and the company MCA Investments Limited and its
staff.

This email is to advise you that the Ministry requires more time to
respond to this request. In accordance with section 15(1) and 15A of the
Act, the Ministry’s decision will be with you no later than 17 January
2023. Please note that over the holiday period, there are three weeks that
are not classified as working days. In accordance with Section 2 of the
Official Information Act 1982, this period is 25 December 2022 to 15
January 2023 (inclusive). The Ministry will endeavour to have your
response to you as soon as reasonably practicable.

The reason for the extension is that consultations necessary to make a
decision on the request are such that a proper response to the request
cannot reasonably be made within the original time limit.

You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of
this decision. Information about how to make a complaint is available at
[1]www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or 0800 802 602.

If you wish to discuss any aspect of your request with us, including this
decision, please feel free to contact [2][MSD request email].
