Special Assessment Team (SAT)
Bayan Shamma made this Official Information request to Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment
Response to this request is long overdue. By law Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment should have responded by now (details and exceptions). The requester can complain to the Ombudsman.
From: Bayan Shamma
Dear Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment,
Kio ora,
Although my previous email that include the same questions got acknowledged by MBIE, it has been subsequently removed by the FYI’s moderator due to the inclusion of personal details, I am removing any reference to my personal details and re-submitting my questions.
Sorry for the confusion that might cause because of this, and I would appreciate you responding to my questions.
1-How does the SAT team confirm that third parties’ requests for information\verification have been received by the intended recipient?
2- Is there any service level agreement that defines the turnaround timelines and escalation mechanism with the third-party service providers who handle the verifications for SAT team?
3-What if the third parties with whom SAT team is trying to verify information never received the request or just ignored it, does this mean the application would be pending indefinitely with no decision? What process does SAT team apply to make sure this is not the case.
4-Does SAT team draw the line at a certain point and apply any alternative procedure\ verification instead of the third-party verification that has not been received for a long time? If yes, how long usually does it take for SAT team to apply these alternative procedures?
5- If my application remains pending for a long time awaiting third-party verification, can I as an applicant request that INZ conclude the decision about my application based on the information you gathered so far?
Yours faithfully,
Bayan Shamma
