Thank you for your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (the
Act) to Manatû Hauora (the Ministry of Health) on 23 October 2022 for: 

 

“The provisional suicide statistics are usually released around August
each year, but not this year. 
 Can you please provide provisional suicide statistics for July 2021 -
June 2022.” 

 

The Manatû Hauora Suicide Web Tool includes data on deaths from suspected
intentional self-harm. These are the deaths which are under investigation
by the coroner to determine if the death was self-inflicted. The data for
suspected suicides has now been updated and goes to June 2022. The web

Under section 28(3) of the Act, you have the right to ask the Ombudsman to
