The ANPR Police manual states that your role is to:
"Ensure that stored NPI is automatically purged from Police controlled storage facilities at the end of the agreed retention period, unless determined to be of known evidentiary value.

ensure all relevant legislation, policies and procedures are being complied with, and LOA/MOU are kept current."
1. Please provide all documentation related to future plans and / or current trials of alternative (a) storage methods, (b) uses, or (c) databasing, of ANPR data from mobile police units. By mobile ANPR units, I refer to those which currently store that data on the BOSS system for 48 hours before deleting automatically.
2. In relation to the [new] 12-month acceptable ANPR data retention period, up from the previous 2-day period:
a. Please provide all discussions, reports, assessments, or other material related to the increase.
b. All correspondence, recommendations, or contributions from the office of the privacy commissioner.

I wonder whether the truth escapes this response by virtue of word play? It may be worth revisiting in several months to see if the ANPR "frontline safety roll out" on Police cars (mobile ANPR) has been engaged because they will likely feed into vGRID (stores data for 6 months).
I say that for 4 reasons.
1. the Police's static ANPR cameras already feed into vGRID. (page 5 of https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/...).
2. the Police's 8th March 2022 governance paper stated that Auror and SaferCities (vGRID) "[currently] provide an interface for our staff to obtain ANPR vehicle alerts and could likely provide solutions for our proposed extended use [of mobile ANPR]". (https://www.documentcloud.org/app?q=%2Bp...)
3. the Police say that it "may be desirable in the future for Police to be able to share a wider range of VOI subsets with third parties [Auror and vGRID] (unspecified to those parties)". (ANPR Police Manual Chapter page 9 https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/...)
