Dear Ministry of Health,
In his final C-19 update on 27 July, Dr Bloomfield stated that ‘preliminary analysis’ showed ‘people not fully vaccinated’ were 6 times more likely to die from covid-19 compared to those who were boosted, ‘once you have adjusted for all other factors’. He also started that this risk of those ‘not fully vaccinated’, was 13 times greater than those who have received at least one booster dose for those under 60 years of age.
Can you please supply the calculation methods and data on which these analyses are based, including details on all the factors that were adjusted to achieve the outcome.
As this was preliminary analysis, can you supply the completed analysis?

Thank you for your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (the
Act) to Manatû Hauora (Ministry of Health) on 14 August 2022. You stated:

You specifically requested:

Regarding the statements made during the press conference on 27 July 2022,
the Director-General was referring to preliminary results contained within
a forthcoming report titled “Inequities in COVID-19 Mortality”. The report
will be publicly released on the Manatû Hauora website here:
www.health.govt.nz/about-ministry/inform... by 20 October 2022.
The report will include information about the methods and data on which
the analyses are based, including all factors that were adjusted to
achieve the outcome. Therefore, your request is withheld in full under
section 18(d) of the Act, as the information requested will soon be
publicly available.

Dear OIA Requests,
I have obtained the report "COVID-19 MORTALITY IN AOTEAROA NEW ZEALAND-Inequities in Risk". I assume this is the report you are referring to.
This report does not contain any of the data relating to the calculation of vaccine efficacy that Mr Bloomfield highlighted.
Please supply the number of deaths, by age, and corresponding population size for each vaccination category(boosted,fully vaccinated, etc) and please supply separated figures for the single dose vaccinated and unvaccinated rather than the combined 'not fully vaccinated' figures if possible. If available please supply the same figures by ethinicity, deprivation, and commorbity rating.
