Rationale for not letting unvaccinated healthcare workers back and giving away 10k/migrant instead

Jai Ganesh made this Official Information request to Andrew Little

The request was successful.

From: Jai Ganesh

Dear Andrew Little,

What is the rationale for not allowing existing NZ healthcare workers who were forced out of their roles leading to increased pressure on the health system back to their jobs and instead handing out 10k to overseas workers?

Have you reviewed the Pfizer safety trials yourself? If so, then what's the justification and if not, why not? https://phmpt.org/pfizers-documents/

Given that the vaccinated still catch, transmit and make up the majority of those in hospital it seems silly to not take care of those that have dedicated themselves to NZ'ers and instead trying to attract migrants. Pretty sure inflation and relatively high prices in NZ would negate the 10k boost and drive the country into further debt.

Yours faithfully,

Jai Ganesh

Dear A Little Office (MIN),

This is weird, surely there is a plausible rationale for not allowing them back especially after the hospital system is slammed and the alleged validity of the vaccine fades away into the negatives. Why won't the minister offer his notes and rationale given it's been over a year since they made this move - surely he has it handy...

Yours sincerely,

Jai Ganesh
