Name and contact details of the Manager responsible for the team that processes 2021 Residency visa applications

Rachel made this Official Information request to Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment

The request was partially successful.

From: Rachel

Dear Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment,

We request contact details for the Manager of the team that processes 2021 Residency visas.

Due to multiple system errors with the new "enhanced" Immigration New Zealand site applicants are receiving requests for items such as medicals when they are still in date. The Immigration New Zealand call centre has said that these will be sorted "when someone gets round to looking at them." but as far as we can tell there is no digital "alert" to tell an INZ officer they need to look at the file, without receiving a medical.

Due to the new system having multiple touch points across multiple Immigration officers, there is no way to contact anyone to iron out these issues and therefore applications are at risk of sitting unprocessed.

Yours faithfully,

Rachel Robinson-Ledwith
NZ permanent Resident, permanently residing in New Zealand.

Dear Rachel,

Thank you for your email of 25 July 2022 requesting, under the Official
Information Act 1982 (the Act), the following information:

Your query has been referred to our team and we will provide you a
response as general correspondence.

Contact details for the Manager of the team that processes 2021 Resident
Visas:

[1][email address]

Head of Operations Manukau

Phone +6499093956

However, please note that there is not a single office or team that
processes 2021 Resident Visas. These visas are processed across multiple
Immigration New Zealand (INZ) processing offices.

With regards to your concern about the issues with medicals on the new
Immigration Online system, INZ has noted that this issue has been
affecting applicants who have not engaged with INZ in the past and do not
have an existing client ID, and have proactively obtained a medical
certificate ahead of submitting their Phase 2, 2021 Resident Visa or
Visitor Visa applications (when the medical is sent to INZ on behalf of
someone who has never applied for a visa, it is held without a client ID
until a visa is applied for). As the medical certificate was not linked to
their Client ID previously, the system is sending an automatic request for
a medical certificate as no health evidence is found in the system.

To avoid this issue, new applicants using the enhanced Immigration Online
system to apply for a visa should submit their application first and wait
for INZ to send them a request for a medical certificate, if any is
required. This also ensures applicants do not pay to obtain medical
certificates that might not be required. Applicants should only supply
additional documentation if they are requested to do so. Applicants who
have already provided valid medical certificates but have since received a
notification from INZ requesting one do not need to provide another or
take further action. INZ will match the person to the medical and will be
in touch with applicants if a new medical certificate is required, if for
example, the original medical was no longer valid at the time their
application was lodged.

If the information provided is not sufficient, or if you have any further
questions, feel free to submit a new request via our online form -
