Good morning [User 34237 name redacted],

The Official Information Act 1982 Section 18B – We have a duty to consider
consulting you If a request is likely to be refused under section 18(e) or
(f), the department or interdepartmental venture, Minister of the Crown,
or organisation must, before that request is refused, consider whether
consulting with the person who made the request would assist that person
to make the request in a form that would remove the reason for the
refusal.

I have been advised by Subject Matter Expert that we need you to narrow
down your request questions.

o Recruits are in the candidate pool

 1. Did you want just the Taupo Area which would include Tokoroa (and many
others) but not Rotorua?  Similarly the Rotorua Area includes other
locations than just Rotorua City.  We recruit for each Police District
and our reporting is aimed at that level too.
 2. Can you also please define what you mean by “candidate pool” – our use
of this term is restricted to applicants eligible for place at RNZPC
but not guaranteed a place on a Wing for a variety of reasons.

o How many candidates have been removed from the pool due to
unsuitability

 3. What timeline are referring to for people being removed from the pool?
And what do you mean by unsuitability?

o What the average length of time is in the candidate pool

 4. What is the timeline you are after for example: the last 6 months, 12
months, 2 years or longer.

Please also see attached our Formal extension Letter.

Kind Regards,

Michelle McGuinness
