Genetics and Zoology Grade Breakdowns 2021
A Rogers made this Official Information request to University of Otago
This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for A Rogers to read recent responses and update the status.
      From: A Rogers

    Dear University of Otago,
I would like to request grade breakdowns (exact grade out of 100, not just the grade letter) of all 200 level genetics and zoology papers in 2021. If possible I would also like to know the grade breakdowns for GENE 312, 313, 314, 315 and 360, as well as ZOOL 315 and 316. If this is too much, just the 200 level papers would be fine thanks.
Yours faithfully,
AR

I refer to your information request dated 22 February 2022 made under the
Official Information Act 1982 (Act). You have requested the mark
breakdowns for the 2021 200-level Genetics and Zoology papers, as well as
 the mark breakdowns of GENE312, GENE313, GENE314, GENE315, GENE360,
 ZOOL315 and ZOOL316.

Subject to the comments below, please find attached the information you
have requested. Please note that there are four sheets in the attached
 document.

o For privacy and student wellbeing reasons, we have withheld the lowest
failing mark for each paper. Revealing these marks would provide
personal information about the lowest failing mark a student in the
class could have achieved. We therefore withhold this information
pursuant to section 9(2)(a) of the Act, and we do not consider that
the reasons for withholding this information are outweighed by other
considerations which would make it desirable in the public interest to
 make the information available.

o It is also the University’s standard practice to not report on marks
which relate to less than 5 students where we consider that such
disclosure could affect an individual’s privacy and wellbeing. Where
the numbers are very low, there is a risk that the identity of these
students could be determined/inferred, and that their personal
information (i.e. their grades) could be revealed. We note that where
the mark is Fail D, Fail E, Fail, Aegrotat, Failed Terms or Failed
Compulsory Assessment, where there are less than 5 students we have
indicated this using <5 – again to protect the privacy and wellbeing
of these students pursuant to section 9(2)(a) of the Act.

o Students who withdrew from GENE or ZOOL papers are excluded from the
 data.

I trust that this information will be helpful.

We note your right to seek a review of these decisions via a complaint to
an Ombudsman. However, we would welcome the opportunity to discuss any
 concerns with you first.

Ngā mihi
Kelsey
