Dear Sana,
I refer to your request of 22 February 2022. The purpose of this email is
to clarify your first question, and respond to the second and third parts
of your request.
“1- How many International students have enrolled in the health sciences
via self-financed program during 2015-2020 and out of those how many have
passed the health science exam to proceed with the medical studies?”
Under section 12(2) of the OIA, requesters are required to specify the
official information requested with due particularity. If you wish to make
a request for this information, please clarify you are referring to
international students who have enrolled in a Bachelor of Health Sciences
in 2015-2020, applied for entry to the University’s Bachelor of Medicine
and Surgery (MBChB) under the First Year entry category, and accepted an
offer of place in the MBChB. Please clarify what you mean by the
“self-financed program”.
“2- How many student were enrolled during 2015- 2020 in student exchange
program to proceed the medical studies in the NZ?
Zero. International students who enrol in Health Sciences courses under
the University’s Exchange programme are not eligible to apply for the
University of Auckland’s MBChB programme via the Health Sciences first
year pathway, as they are not enrolled in a Bachelor of Health Sciences at
the University of Auckland.
“List of countries who have student exchange program agreement with the NZ
universities?”
The list of the University’s exchange partners is publicly available here:
[1]https://cdn.auckland.ac.nz/assets/auckla...
“3- Is the Student Exchange program still ongoing to enrol overseas
students in health sciences /medical study or the program has been
suspended? If the program has been suspended what is the reason?”
Information on eligible courses for the University’s Study Abroad and
Exchange program are publicly available here:
[2]https://www.auckland.ac.nz/en/study/inte...
Medicine, Surgery, Pharmacy and Optometry courses not being available for
the University’s Study Abroad and Exchange program is not a recent change.
Where the University has referenced publicly available material in
response to your questions, this constitutes a refusal of your request
under section 18(d) of the OIA. You have the right to make a complaint to
an Ombudsman if you are dissatisfied with this response.
Yours sincerely,
Rebecca Ewert
