Vaccination status of people getting covid tests
Brendan Atkinson made this Official Information request to Ministry of Health
This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for Brendan Atkinson to read recent responses and update the status.
From: Brendan Atkinson
Dear Ministry of Health,
I would like to understand whether there is a measurable reluctance to test amongst the unvaccinated population compared to the vaccinated population.
The data I'd like to see is a weekly breakdown of covid tests results grouped by vaccination status. I'm most interested in data this year to as current a date as you can, but if it's simple it would've great to have it dating back to the start of the vaccine rollout.
I don't need to know if test results were positive or negative necessarily if that makes it diffulicult (though again if it's easy it might be interesting), as I'm interested in comparing testing rates between vaccinated, partially vaccinated, and unvaccinated populations. Breaking unvaccinated into eligible and ineligible would be helpful too.
Yours faithfully,
Brendan Atkinson

From: OIA Requests
Kia ora Brendan,
Thank you for your request for official information to the Ministry of
Health (the Ministry), on 11 February 2022 for:
“Is a weekly breakdown of covid tests results grouped by vaccination
status. I'm most interested in data this year to as current a date as you
can, but if it's simple it would've great to have it dating back to the
start of the vaccine rollout.
I don't need to know if test results were positive or negative necessarily
if that makes it difficult (though again if it's easy it might be
interesting), as I'm interested in comparing testing rates between
vaccinated, partially vaccinated, and unvaccinated populations. Breaking
unvaccinated into eligible and ineligible would be helpful too.”
The Ministry is only able to provide you with a breakdown of vaccination
status for positive COVID-19 cases, as negative rapid antigen tests (RAT)
results are rarely provided. Information on the vaccination of positive
COVID-19 cases can be found on the Ministry’s website
at: [1]www.health.govt.nz/covid-19-novel-coronavirus/covid-19-data-and-statistics/covid-19-case-demographics#vaccinations-details.
The Ministry also publishes details about every person with COVID-19
(confirmed or probable) in a downloadable spreadsheet. For privacy
reasons, this data only includes:
* Date potential case was notified
* Sex of case
* Age group of case
* DHB where the case lives - listed as "Managed isolation & quarantine"
for border cases
* If the case is related to overseas travel
This data is available from the Ministry's [2]COVID-19 Data GitHub
repository. It is updated daily and covers all cases from 26 February
2020
Under section 28(3) of the Act you have the right to ask the Ombudsman to
review any decisions made under this request. The Ombudsman may be
contacted by email at: [3][email address] or by calling 0800
802 602.
