The standard process is for appointments to be notified in the New Zealand
Gazette, but health related ethics committees have a slightly different
process as per their enabling legislation.  

 

The National Ethics Advisory Committee is established under section 16 of
the New Zealand Public Health and Disability Act 2000 (the Act). Under
section 16(5) of the Act, the Minister must present a written notice to
the House of Representatives of any appointments made to the Committee.  

 

The Health and Disability Ethics Committees are established under section
11 of the Act. Section 12(1) of the Act specifies that any appointments to
committees established under section 11 also must be notified to the House
of Representatives by written notice. 

 

The information regarding newly appointed members and the current
compositions of these committees can be found on their relevant websites
as below:
