Nurses at Auckland City Hospital

Luke made this Official Information request to Auckland District Health Board

The request was successful.

From: Luke

Dear Auckland District Health Board,

I am writing to request the number of nurses employed at Auckland City Hospital, and how many are scheduled to work in the event of a major COVID-19 outbreak. These questions relate to Auckland City Hospital only. Specifically:

a) How many Nurses are currently employed at Auckland City Hospital?

b) What is the planned maximum number of Nurses designated to work on COVID-19 wards in the event of a major COVID-19 outbreak?

c) How many Nurses have resigned since May 5, 2021?

d) How many Nurses working in ICU have resigned since May 5, 2021?

e) What is the maximum number of COVID-19 patients ADHB believes it can reasonably admit to Auckland City Hospital?

f) What is the planned maximum number of ICU beds that is available in the event of a major COVID-19 outbreak?

By "currently employed", I ask for staff employed as of October 3, 2021, or if unavailable, the most recent date to that as possible. Similar reasoning applies to c) and d).
By "major COVID-19 outbreak" I mean an outbreak that would represent a worst-case scenario as planned for by ADHB.

Yours faithfully,
Luke

Dear Luke

Re: Official Information Request - Nurses at Auckland City Hospital

I am writing to acknowledge your official information request dated 8 October 2021.

We will endeavour to respond to your request as soon as possible and, in any event, no later than 5 November 2021. We will contact you if an extension is required.

“Due to the COVID-19 global pandemic response, Auckland DHB continues to experience significantly higher volumes of requests for information. Many key Auckland DHB and Auckland Regional Public Health Service staff are currently committed to tasks associated with the current COVID-19 outbreak. This will invariably impact on our ability to respond to certain OIA requests within normal timeframes.

If you have any questions about management of OIA during the COVID pandemic you may find it helpful to read the following from the Office of the Ombudsman https://smex12-5-en-ctp.trendmicro.com:4...

Please note that, like other DHBs across New Zealand, Auckland DHB has adopted a model of proactive disclosure which sees OIA responses publically available on our website approximately one month after they have been released. If you believe that there are any special reasons why proactive disclosure should not apply to our response to you, we will be happy to consider this.

Kind regards
Priscilla
