CCTV,Drones and RF helicopters

David Nicholas made this Official Information request to New Zealand Police

The request was refused by New Zealand Police.

From: David Nicholas

Dear New Zealand Police,
I am wanting to know the number of CCTV cameras, drones and RF helicopters or any other surveillance method using special video equipment that the NZ Police have access.

Are the CCTV cameras linked together, if so is this by city, region or nationwide?

What software is used to view CCTV images?

Do the NZ Police have access to facial recognition or other biometric databases to identify images.?

What activities or tasks are undertaken via drones or radio controlled helicopters?

Yours faithfully,

David Nicholas
