Thank you for your email of 4 October 2021, requesting information about
the establishment of the Ministry’s dedicated behavioural science unit, a
list of all stakeholders, all communications with the Behavioural
Insights Team, all communications with other Ministry’s behavioural
science units, and any across-government strategy documents or plans.
At present, your request is very broad, and the Ministry may have to
refuse under section 18(f) of the Official Information Act because you are
seeking a substantial volume of information. If you are able to clarify
or refine your request, that would help us to respond.
Can you clarify if your request relates to the team known as Behavioural
Science Aotearoa established in 2019? (The request refers to a behavioural
science unit set up in 2020.) Can you also clarify whether you are seeking
information for the period since 2019 or only from 2020 onwards?
I invite you to also clarify whether you are looking for key documents
only e.g. final reports and briefings.
Please note, any clarification or amendment of a request is considered to
be a new request for the purpose of calculating the maximum statutory
timeframe for response—see section 15(1AA) of the OIA.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Ngâ mihi,
Dylan Boyle
