Student Loans Charges and Freedom of Movement

Dear Ministry of Justice,

I would like to request the following information under the OIA:

I would like to request to know the type and consequences of charges laid against student loan defaulters by IRD due to the Student Loan Scheme Amendment Bill (No 3).

I would also like to know if this is in breach of the freedom of movement (Bill of Rights) given it has the possibility to leave NZ citizens as illegal immigrants or stateless people wherever they may be when refused renewal.

I would prefer to receive an electronic response. Queries about this request will be automatically forwarded to me by the fyi.org.nz website.
