From: James Fluker

Dear Dongrui Pang,

I can confirm I'm a New Zealand citizen and I'm surprised by MBIE's response, given most agencies don't explicitly ask people making OIA requests to confirm their citizenship or residency as part of the request.

It almost feels like MBIE is stonewalling in an attempt to not have to answer the questions.

Yours sincerely,

James Fluker

Dear James Fluker

Sorry to hear your concerns, however to ask for information under the OIA you must be either a New Zealand citizen/permanent resident or are actually present in New Zealand.

Please refer to the Ombudsman guidelines at the following link:

As your OIA request has been closed, please feel free to submit a new one if you meet the criteria.

I apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
