Question regarding Parent Residency EOI
A KS made this Official Information request to Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment
The request was successful.
From: A KS
Dear Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment,
My query is regarding the parent residency EOI's which have been in the submitted stage ( which are in the queue since 2015 and till now and not selected for application yet ).
I am aware that since Oct 2019 , INZ has stopped accepting new EOI's and will start accepting from Feb 2020 and as per the Oct 2019 decisions , the tier 1 and tier 2 EOI's will be merged into a single EOI queue.
Therefore could you please provide me the following data
Data 1:-
Number of EOI's submitted by month, year ( preferably in excel format )
Here's the example of the structure of the desired data
Number of EOI' s submitted , Month, Year
120 JUNE , 2016
130 JULY , 2016
.......
150 Aug , 2018
.......................
150 Aug , 2019
Number of EOI' s submitted can be split by Tier 1/Tier 2 ( or total of Tier 1 and Tier 2) either way is fine.
Yours faithfully,
A KS

Hi again, I'll try again without the @ sign. It's my name Dongrui.Pang, followed by the AT sign, then, mbie DOT govt DOT NZ.
Essentially all I need is evidence of you meeting the criteria under Section 12 OIA. Evidence could include but not limited to copies of your passport, evidence of your address in NZ etc.
Hope this helps

Dear Katy Goodwin,
Thanks a lot for the letter confirming that request will be answered by FEB28
My request talks about number of EOIs per month and count who meet criteria.
however can you add another column telling number of persons in EOI and how many persons meet new criteria. That would be great if that can be done in the current timelines of this OIA.
However if adding column will lead to further delays then please ignore this request and I’m fine with the data which I originally requested.
Thanks a lot
A ks

A KS

Hi A KS
Thanks for your email. However to answer your new question we would need to consult with data analysts which would cause further delay in providing the response. Therefore as per your instructions we will continue with your original OIA request without considering your new request on 20 February 2020.

Hi A KS
We have a further query regarding your OIA.
In your email you states 'My query is regarding the parent residency EOI's which have been in the submitted stage (which are in the queue since 2015 and till now and not selected for application yet). However you went on asking for 'number of EOIs submitted by month and year'.
Could you please clarify if you are requesting information for EOIs that are still in the queue since 2015, or are you requesting total number of EOIs that were submitted to INZ since 2015 by month and year)?
Please clarify by 12pm Monday 24 February 2020. If we don't hear from you by then we will provide you with information in regards to the EOIs submitted by month and year as this appears to be the information you requested explicitly.

Dear Dongrui Pang,
Thanks for your latest email. Sorry if there is any confusion.
I've raised 2 OIA requests and as per the email of Katy Goodwin (Feb 5,2020) MBIE has clubbed both OIA's as a one request.
Hence, I am providing the summary of my requests
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I need the following data
Data1 :- Number of EOI's submitted by month,year ( preferably in excel format )
Data2 :- Number of EOI' s submitted , Month, Year , How many EOI's meet new sponsor income criteria
For both of these datasets (Data 1,2) I want you to only consider those EOI's which were submitted since 2015 and are still in the queue ( not yet selected for application stage ).
To explain eg if there were 20 EOI;s submitted in Jan 2015 and all of them were selected ( which means they are no longer in queue), then in the datasets you should put 0 for Number of EOI's column for Jan 2015.
Similarly eg. for Feb 2015 if there were 30 submitted and 20 were selected for application and 10 still in the queue . Then my datasets should show the count as 20 for Feb 2015.
I don't know , in queue, which month does the oldest EOI belongs to . So I asked the data from 2015.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In my requests I didn't say TOTAL number of EOIs that were submitted to INZ , I just say Number of EOI's submitted.I didn't mean that I want ALL EOI's to be considered . I just need the EOI's which fulfill criteria (mentioned in the above paragraph).
Sorry for any confusion.
Please let me know in case any further info is required.
I tried to explain the requests in detailed manner in this message.
I'm hoping to get the data for both data sets soon. Thanks for looking into my request.
Yours sincerely,
A KS

Dear Dongrui Pang,
Sorry I found a typo in my latest message. Here's the text after correction. Originally ,I mentioned my datasets should show the count as 20 for Feb 2015 ( as example) .
However count should be 10 not 20 as 10 EOI's are in the queue, Sorry for the typo
Here's the corrected text
---------------------------------------------------
Similarly eg. for Feb 2015 if there were 30 submitted ( 20 were selected for application and 10 still in the queue ). Then my datasets should show the count as 10 for Feb 2015.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
