Number of cyclists fined for no helmet during Auckland Harbour Bridge Cycling Mockery.

Mr M P Ross made this Official Information request to New Zealand Police

The request was successful.

From: Mr M P Ross

Dear New Zealand Police,

On the 30th May 2021 hundreds of people illegally traversed the Auckland Habour Road Bridge. Having watched various footage of the complete mockery of the rule of law shown by those attending, I was dismayed to see many were also not wearing helmets.

Under the Official Information Act I request the following information:

How many cyclists during this illegal protest/action were issued with an infringement notice in accordance with Part 11 of the Land Transport (Road User) Rule 2004 (SR 2004/427), which states that "A person must not ride, or be carried on, a bicycle on a road unless the person is wearing a safety helmet of an approved standard that is securely fastened?

Yours faithfully,

Mr M P Ross
