Reasons for extending date to respond to OIA request H202106233

John Jacobson made this Official Information request to Ministry of Health

Response to this request is long overdue. By law Ministry of Health should have responded by now (details and exceptions). The requester can complain to the Ombudsman.

From: John Jacobson

Dear Ministry of Health,

On 10 May 2021 I made an OIA request to you via FYI.org.nz. You can find the correspondence here:

https://fyi.org.nz/request/15419-public-...

Your reference number for this request is H202106233

A response was due no later than 8 June 2021. On that date the Ministry notified me it was extending the time for making a decision until 8 July 2021. It said that this is because "further collation and research and consultation" is required before it can make a decision.

This is a fresh OIA request for all the information about:

(a) what further collation and research is required before a decision on request H202106233 can be made; and
(b) who is being consulted, about what issues, before a decision on request H202106233 can be made; and
(c) why the activities in (a) and (b) above could not be completed within 20 working days.

Since the Ministry must have this information to hand in order to notify me of the extension, I expect if can provide a substantive response to this request much sooner than 20 working days.

Yours faithfully,

John Jacobson
