Further Updates on Shortages of Material in Building Industry

Matthew Hooton made this Official Information request to Megan Woods

The request was successful.

From: Matthew Hooton

Dear Megan Woods

Under the OIA, I request information on all advice you, or your officials, have received since 29 March 2021 on possible and/or actual shortages of materials required for building houses in New Zealand.

Such materials include but are not limited to timber, concrete, cement, plaster, and home appliances.

By advice, I mean formal written advice based on data collection and analysis. But I also include more informal advice, including verbal advice, and that based on anecdote.

You or your officials may have become aware of such advice in other capacities, such as a member of the Labour Party caucus or in their private capacities, which are not covered by the OIA. However, in becoming aware of such advice in those capacities, you also became aware of it in your ministerial and official capacities and so my request covers such advice.

Thank you.

Yours sincerely

Matthew Hooton

Dear Megan Woods

Under the OIA, I request information on all advice you, or your officials,
have received since 29 March 2021 on possible and/or actual shortages of
materials required for building houses in New Zealand.

Such materials include but are not limited to timber, concrete, cement,

advice, and that based on anecdote.

You or your officials may have become aware of such advice in other

your ministerial and official capacities and so my request covers such
advice.

Thank you.

Subject: Official Information request - Further Updates on Shortages of
Material in Building Industry

Dear Megan Woods

Under the OIA, I request information on all advice you, or your officials,
have received since 29 March 2021 on possible and/or actual shortages of
materials required for building houses in New Zealand.

Such materials include but are not limited to timber, concrete, cement,
plaster, and home appliances.

By advice, I mean formal written advice based on data collection and
analysis. But I also include more informal advice, including verbal
advice, and that based on anecdote.

You or your officials may have become aware of such advice in other
capacities, such as a member of the Labour Party caucus or in their
private capacities, which are not covered by the OIA. However, in becoming
aware of such advice in those capacities, you also became aware of it in
your ministerial and official capacities and so my request covers such
advice.

Thank you.

Yours sincerely

Matthew Hooton
