Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment
Dear M S Medina
Thank you for your request for information.
The time taken to assess a Skilled Migrant Residence Category (SMC)
application can vary considerably. It depends on the quality of the
supporting documents and whether we require further information or
verification of the information provided. While applications are processed
as quickly as possible, there is no set maximum timeframe for a decision
to be made.
The Immigration New Zealand website provides information about how long
certain categories of applications, including SMC, take to be processed:
[1]https://www.immigration.govt.nz/new-zeal...
In the 3 months to 1 April 2021 50% of the SMC applications completed took
21 months to process, 75% took 22 months, and 95% took 24 months.
Ngā mihi
