FYI

Dear David Nicholas

Your email request below asking under the Official Information Act for information held by ERO "on the success or failure of the Te Kotahitanga programme”, has been referred to me for reply.

ERO does not hold any information that refers to or makes any judgements "on the success or failure" of the Te Kotahitanga programme. Te Kotahitanga is of course a research and professional development programme that supports teachers and school leaders in English medium secondary schools with high numbers of Māori students.

It is not unusual, however, for a regular ERO education review report on a secondary school with high numbers of Māori students to make reference to the existence in the school's practices of the Te Kotahitanga programme in the report. As an example I refer you to the April 2012 Education Review Report on Northland College, which you can access on ERO's website, www.ero.govt.nz. All ERO's reports are published on the website and can be readily accessed, and I accessed the Northland College 'example' entirely at random.

I hope this information is of assistance.

Yours sincerely
