Kia ora Harrison
We refer to your OIA request of 30 November 2020 for all reports and
'Summary of Evidence' relating to injuries and deaths caused by cattle.
Our Data team have done an initial search for the information requested
and advised that information relating to injuries is large (over 15000
records) and will require substantial amount of research and collation.
Therefore, this part of your request will likely be declined under section
18(f) of the OIA, if unrefined, because the information requested cannot
be made available without substantial collation and research.
We suggest you look at the injury data relating to cattle on our Data
centre first. The link to the data centre is attached and we suggest you
have a look at it and refine your request by year and region:
[1]https://data.worksafe.govt.nz/graph/deta...
In regards to fatalities, we have identified two investigation reports in
scope of your request . However, as advised previously WorkSafe doesn’t
proactively release investigation reports on its website because they can
include sensitive and personal information that may be distressing to
victims, whânau, and others. We have previously provided an OIA response
to your personal email, but want to check if that is still correct.
Could you please can confirm your email and advise if you are happy to
refine your request by 15 January 2020.
