The request was successful.
      From: Morteza

    Dear University of Canterbury,
Under the Official Information Act, I am making the following request as a person who is in Aotearoa New Zealand.
Please let me know how many PhD candidates at the University of Canterbury received an outright failure (no degree awarded) as the outcome of their oral examination in 2020, 2019, and 2018 respectively.
I trust my query is clear.
Please acknowledge receipt of this message.
Yours faithfully,
Morteza

For clarification of your OIA request, are you asking for where a PhD
candidate has not been awarded a PhD, but another qualification instead
(i.e. Masters) or where a PhD candidate has not been awarded any
 qualification at all?

    Kia ora Claire,
Thank you for your response.
As it was clearly stated in my request, outright failure of a PhD following the oral examination would mean the situation where a PhD candidate is not awarded any degree as an outcome of the viva at all. I hope this has clarified the point further.
Ngā mihi,
Morteza
