Border exemptions for the screen industry
Annie Weston made this Official Information request to Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment
The request was successful.
From: Annie Weston
Dear Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment,
Below is taken from INZ’s webpage:
"Once you have made the request
Immigration New Zealand (INZ) will review the request, and may seek advice from the appropriate government agencies, such as the Science Innovation and International Branch at the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE), on the merits of the case made by the employer, if needed. INZ will then provide advice to their senior officials about the request."
I understand that INZ seek advice from the NZ Film Commission (NZFC) on the merits of the case made by the employer on applications relating to the screen industry, if needed.
In regard to applications relating to the screen industry - how many has INZ sought advice from the NZFC on, at the time of your reply?
Yours faithfully,
Annie Weston

Dear Ms Weston
I have been allocated your request to process but firstly, I just need to
ensure that you are able to make such a request as per Section 12 of the
Official Information Act (OIA), i.e. you are a New Zealand citizen,
permanent resident or in New Zealand. I have pasted the relevant section
of the Act as well as the relevant web link at the bottom of this email.
Action
I need you to provide confirmation that you meet this section of the OIA
Act. This can be in the form of:
• NZ citizen or permanent resident - a copy of your passport
(non New Zealand passport holders include a copy of your residence visa),
or
• In New Zealand - evidence of your New Zealand residential
address ( e.g. rental agreements, etc. ) and a copy of your passport.
If you do not wish to provide this information via the fyi website, then
please email me directly. It would be appreciated if you could provide
this as soon as possible or by 5pm Tuesday 8 September 2020 (NZ time).

· The weblink of the page you are referencing - Your request refers
to a statement on the INZ website, however, you have not provided the
weblink to the page it is on. As such I am unsure as to what you are
specifically referring to.
