Number of Non-Priority Applications remaining in Dec 2018

Satish made this Official Information request to Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment

The request was successful.

From: Satish

Dear Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment,

Could you please help me to understand the number of applications remaining in the queue from 19th Dec to 31st Dec 2018.

Also, I would like to understand how many applications were lodged during the Christmas break (from 19th Dec 2018 to Jan 2019 as well), each day break up like on 2nd Jan 150, 3rd Jan 100 Applications and so on.

I understand many people who had lodged applications in mid-2019 from Non-Priority Queue have got CO's assigned (would understand it might be because of the Escalation or had met the priority queue), so why there is inconstancy in the application allocation? and is there any queue within Non Priority queue like people who are in LTSSL. Please confirm

Yours faithfully,

Satish

Greetings Satish

Before I proceed with your information request, are you able to clarify
the following parts of your request? I have reword then as how we would
interpret your request which are highlighted in yellow below.

1. No. of application remaining in Dec 2018 to Jan 1st week Queue,
datewise (for an example on 18th Dec there were 500 applications lodged
and 200 are already assigned to CO now), and 19th Dec count vs assigned,
20th Dec Lodgements count vs assigned to CO, 21st Dec Lodgements and so on
up to 1st week of Jan/or until the staff returned from Christmas break (in
short each day's lodgement count and how many are already assigned to CO).

·          For the period 06 December 2018 to 06 January 2019 the number
of applications accepted for processing per day/date, broken down into
allocated/unallocated

2. How many applications were accepted by INZ right from Jan 2019 to Aug
2019 (each month Break up)?.

·        How many applications accepted by INZ from the 7^th Jan 2019 – 8
 August 2019?

3. How many applications are offshore based which were lodged from Jan
2019 to Aug 2019 (each month break up)?.

·        For the period of 6 December 2018 to 06 January 2019 how many
applications are offshore based broken down by month?

4. How many applications INZ has assigned to CO after Lockdown (Priority
vs Nonpriority queue). for example 200 applications assigned in the first
week of Aug and 150 from priority and 50 from Non Priority.

5. The number of Priority queue applications pending in the queue which
are waiting to be assigned to CO.

I am happy with the last two questions.

Please get back to  me by COB on Monday 10^Th August 2020 confirming

Dear Ileini Taloa,

I have listed the questions again to make it clear.

1. No. of application remaining in Dec 2018 (starting from 18th Dec to Jan first week), date wise (for an example on 18th Dec there were 500 applications lodged and 200 are already assigned to CO now), and 19th Dec count vs assigned, 20th Dec Lodgements count vs assigned to CO, 21st Dec Lodgements and so on up to 1st week of Jan/or until the staff returned from Christmas break (in short each day's lodgement count and how many are already assigned to CO).
2. How many applications were accepted by INZ right from 7th Jan 2019 to 31st Aug 2019 (each month Break up)?.
3. For the period of 7th Jan 2019 to 31st Aug 2019 how many applications are offshore based broken down by month?
4. How many applications INZ has assigned to CO after Lockdown (Priority vs Nonpriority queue), for example, 200 applications assigned in the first week of Aug and 150 from priority and 50 from Non Priority.
5. The number of Priority queue applications pending in the queue which are waiting to be assigned to CO.

Please let me know as soon as you see this if you are not clear about any item/question/request (so we don't have to go back and forth clarifying the request for another week or so and delay the request).

Yours sincerely,

Satish

Hi Satish

Thank you for your prompt response.

Note that the first part of your request you have used lodgement date but then you have used accepted date for the remaining parts of your request, for consistency I will change the first part of your request to accepted date if that’s ok ?

The lodgement date is the date we acknowledge we received the application. The acceptance date is when we acknowledge that it meets lodgement criteria and has been accepted for processing. The main difference between these dates is that our allocation process uses the acceptance date to allocate in date order.

So the first part of your request will be:

1. No. of application remaining in Dec 2018 (starting from 18th Dec to Jan first week), date wise (for an example on 18th Dec there were 500 applications accepted by INZ and 200 are already assigned to CO now), and 19th Dec count vs assigned, 20th Dec applications accepted for processing vs assigned to CO, 21st Dec applications accepted and so on up to 1st week of Jan/or until the staff returned from Christmas break (in short application accepted by INZ each day and how many are already assigned to CO).

Thanks

Dear Ileini Taloa,

Thanks for helping me with the request and I find it quite confusing to understand the whole response.

In my second question, I have asked how many applications were accepted vs decided from the Month of Jan 2019 to Aug 2019.

for example, if 100 applications from Jan 2019 were accepted, how many out of these are already decided, let's say 80 decided so we have 20 in the backlog.

Same way in Feb 2019 50 accepted and 30 decided already (whenever they have been approved/declined, doesn't matter). are now 20 are left to be decided and so on until Aug 2019.

In Simple, words just need to understand how many undecided applications are there in the Non Priority queue from Jan 2019 to Aug 2020 that is onshore.

Immigration might have decided 1200+ applications each month starting from Jan 2019 to Aug 2019, I don't want to know that.

Yours sincerely,

Satish
