SMS txt messages to/from RNZ Comms relating to RNZ Concert and youth radio

Gareth Watkins made this Official Information request to Radio New Zealand Limited

The request was partially successful.

From: Gareth Watkins

Dear Radio New Zealand Limited,

As you will be aware SMS txt messages are records under the Public Records Act 2005 and also come under the Official information Act. To quote Archives NZ "If an organisation uses text messaging ...these communications are considered records under the Public Records Act 2005. As such, they must be managed accordingly."
https://archives.govt.nz/manage-informat...

I request all SMS txt messages sent and received from John Barr relating to RNZ Concert and/or the establishment of a new RNZ youth radio station.

Mr Barr is referred to in media stories as "RNZ spokesman", and in earlier RNZ press releases as "RNZ Communications". The number that is given publicly for this role is 027 246 4459 (e.g. https://www.rnz.co.nz/media/123), but this may not be the only number associated with Mr Barr's RNZ work.

My request is for those messages sent or received from Monday 3 February to Friday 14 February 2020 (inclusive), from or to John Barr in his RNZ capacity (e.g. as someone who has been engaged by RNZ to undertake work)

For each SMS txt please include the full message, and meta data: the sent/received date and time, the last four digits of the phone number the message originated from and the last four digits of the phone number the message was sent to.

Yours faithfully,

Gareth Watkins

Dear RNZ,

Can you please list the specific URLs where I can find the pieces of information I have requested in my OIAs, as I can't seem to find them easily via the general link you supplied (for example, where is the Music Review document, all txts (sent/received) from John Barr, Jim Mather, all txts from Paul Thomson - did he really only communicate with Willy over that period?? etc)

I don't particularly want to send this to the Ombudsman, but if this is RNZ's final response I will lodge a complaint.

Yours sincerely,

Gareth Watkins
