Amy S Van Wey Lovatt (Account suspended) made this Official Information request to Ministry of Health
Response to this request is long overdue. By law Ministry of Health should have responded by now (details and exceptions). The requester can complain to the Ombudsman.
From: Amy S Van Wey Lovatt (Account suspended)
Dear Ministry of Health,
RE: List of all NZ Standards applicable to medical practitioners and laboratories
NZ Standards directed me to the MoH for my request.
According to Rule 4 clause 2 of the Health and Disability Commissioner (Code of Health and Disability Services Consumers' Rights) Regulations 1996,
"(2) Every consumer has the right to have services provided that comply with legal, professional, ethical, and other relevant standards."
Request 1:
I respectfully request a complete list of all "legal, professional, ethical and other relevant standards" that medical doctors in NZ must comply with.
Request 2:
I respectfully request a complete list of all "legal, professional, ethical and other relevant standards" that all medical laboratories which receive public funding (directly or as a contracted provider) must comply with.
Yours faithfully,
Amy S Van Wey Lovatt

Dear Ministry of Health,
Thank you very much for your response to my request for the:
(1) complete list of all "legal, professional, ethical and other relevant standards" that medical doctors in NZ must comply with” and
(2) complete list of all "legal, professional, ethical and other relevant standards" that all medical laboratories which receive public funding (directly or as a contracted provider) must comply with in NZ.
The information you have provided is easily found on the Ministry of Health website or the NZ legislative website; however, this is not a complete list as I have requested. If the Ministry of Health does not have a complete list of all "legal, professional, ethical and other relevant standards" for all medical doctors, DHB's and other medical laboratories which receive public funding, then I request under section 13 and 14 of the OIA for your assistance to obtain this information, even if it means referring my request to the other relevant agencies.
Thank you again for your patients and assistance in gathering this information. I have no doubt that having a database of such standards would be valuable to the MoH, all health professionals and DHB's in NZ, and the general public who rely on medical services which comply with legal, professional, ethical and other relevant standards, per the HDC (Code of Health and Disability Services Consumers' Rights) Regulations 1996.
Yours faithfully,
Amy S Van Wey Lovatt
