The request was refused by Minister of Finance.
From: Alex Harris
Dear Minister of Finance,
Today Mighty River Power, a company part-owned by the government under the Mixed-Ownership Model, announced that it would buy back $50 million of shares. I would like to request the following information from you in your capacity as shareholding Minister under the OIA:
* were you as shareholding Minister consulted about this plan, or did you approve it?
* will the government be participating in the buyback scheme?
* all correspondence and advice to you on this matter.
If you are not the shareholding Minister, then I'd appreciate a swift transfer to the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises, or whoever does hold the shares for the government.
I would prefer to receive an electronic response. Queries about this request will be automatically forwarded to me by the fyi.org.nz website.
With regards to s12 of the OIA, I am an NZ citizen and in NZ.
Yours faithfully,
Alex Harris
