Dear Lily

Thank you for your email of 6 December 2019 requesting the following
information from the Ministry of Education:

o details on the funding the MoE provides to each of the following
tertiary institutions, and the percentage it has increased/decreased
each year including and since 2008, adjusting for inflation.

o 1) University of Auckland
o 2) University of Otago
o 3) Victoria, University of Wellington
o 4) University of Canterbury

Your request would be more appropriately made to the Tertiary Education
Commission, the agency responsible for providing funding to tertiary
education providers. The Commission has advised it is happy to respond to
your request if you are willing to amend it to be for funding from the
Tertiary Education Commission instead of the Ministry.

If you are willing to make this amendment we will make an official
transfer to the Commission and notify you when we have done so.

Kind regards

Dear Lily

Thank you for your email of 6 December 2019 requesting the following
information:

The Tertiary Education Commission, not the Ministry of Education, is the
organisation responsible for funding universities. Therefore, we are
refusing your request under section 18(g) of the Act, on the grounds that
the Ministry does not hold the information. However, you are welcome to
make a similar request to the Tertiary Education Commission as the primary
funder of New Zealand’s universities.

You also have the right to ask an Ombudsman to review our decision on your
information request. You can do this by writing to
[email address] or Office of the Ombudsman, PO Box 10152,
Wellington 6143.

Kind regards
