Kia ora Jan,

Thank you for your request of 1 November 2019, asking for "statistical
information pertaining to the number of covered work related claims for
lumbar spine injuries in  heavy truck drivers over the last ten years". We
have approached our Analytics and Reporting team to see if we can extract
information to answer your question.

It is likely that we will be unable to reliably gather data for injuries
involving 'heavy truck drivers', as this detail is something ACC would not
routinely record when lodging a claim. The information asked for in our
ACC45 claim form, filled out when lodging a claim, contains a blank text
field where a claimant can record their occupation. This field is not
mandatory to complete and not every claimant does so. We can perform a
'free-text' search with key words, such as 'truck', for fields where text
is entered freely.

In light of the points I have covered above, would you like us to proceed
with your request as we are able, or perhaps there is some clarification
of this request that might help us provide you with what you are after,
such as data on "truck drivers".
Ngâ mihi,

Emma Coats

Hi Jan, we have confirmed with our Analytics team that the closest
category we can get to heavy truck driver is levy classification CU 61100
road freight transport.  Can you advise  if you would like data on this
category?  If so we will get this underway.

regards

OIA Services
